Obituary for Chuck Blaylock

John Charles Blaylock
02 October 1929 – 21 May 2021

Chuck was born in East York/Toronto, Ontario, grew up in Montreal, Quebec, moved to Vancouver, B.C. in 1953, Alta Lake/Whistler in 1968 and finally to Squamish in 2018.
Chuck loved his kids and took great pride in their accomplishments. He is survived by his wife, Karen, his children: Louise Gordon (Jim), John F. (Karina), Glenn (Elaine) and Scott (Andrea), several grand and great-grand children.
Chuck lived a full and interesting life. He travelled the world as a pilot with Air Canada, played Junior hockey and internationally, raced Formula 1 cars, operated a construction company in Whistler, enjoyed golf with friends and took up paragliding in his 70’s.
While best known around Whistler for helping set up and manage the Whistler Hockey Association, Chuck volunteered for many groups. He was most proud of his time volunteering with the Whistler Health Care Society.
And while playing hockey kept him young, Chuck was at his happiest when chatting with people.
Many thanks to everyone who spent time with Chuck especially as his dementia progressed. Your visits were priceless and will be forever appreciated.
A big thank-you also to Chuck’s physician, Squamish Hospice staff and everyone else on Chuck’s care team!

Sincere condolences to you, Karen, and to Chuck's family, on the passing of Chuck. Ken and I always enjoyed running into you and Chuck, both in Whistler and in later years in Squamish. Loved our conversations and visits at the Squamish Valley Golf Club. Chuck always had such good stories to tell. He will be remembered with great fondness. Hugs to you, Karen, in this difficult time. Karen, we are very sorry to learn of Chuck's passing and have wonderful memories of him on Summer Lane. Rowland remembers well his "best friend" from his toddler years! Chuck was a great storyteller and an always smiling and friendly face. Thinking of you. The Leggs
