JOHNSTON, Tyrone Edward Peter

January 6, 1942 - September 24, 2019

Tyrone passed away peacefully at the age of 77 after a few years of failing health. Tyrone is survived by his two children, daughter Celine (Chris) Pereverzoff of Squamish, B.C. and son Tyrone Patrick (Trish) Johnston of Dublin, Ireland: five children; Chadd, Isabelle, Sophie, Nicole, and Chloe: Brothers; Carr (Suzanne) of St. Catharine's, ON and Rory of Halifax, NS along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Tyrone was predeceased by his parents Eddie and Lorraine (MacDonald), his brothers Clair and Greg and his first wife Judy (Marchildron). Tyrone was born in Winnipeg, MB and grew up in many Canadian and US cities, but he spent the majority of his years in the Greater Toronto Area. He built his dream house on Conc. 12 in the shape of a barn in 1973 where he happily raised his family for several years in Perkinsfield. He has fond memories of snowmobiling, fishing, drinking and partying with family and friends. His final years were enjoyed close to his grandchildren in Squamish, BC and Dublin, Ireland.

Tyrone was passionate about many things; his family, travel/road trips, telling stories, his outstanding 30 year sales career at Pitney-Bowes, Blues music and Blue Cruises.

A second Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's RC Church Perkinsfield, Tiny, ON October 26, 2019 at 11 a.m., with a burial and reception to follow.

We have SO many memories of our friend Tyrone "Colonel" from his years of travelling with Downchild. From the X-tra spicy concoctions he cooked up to please Chuck (I couldn't eat most) to his memorable stroll through crowds selling merchandise, the Colonel was a force to be reckoned with. We were sorry when he told us he was unable to continue on "the road" with us and we are surely sorry to hear of his passing. How lucky his family was to have him with them in his final years.
He made many friends in the music business and we all shared lots of laughs with the Colonel!
Rest well, dear friend!

Sad to hear of the passing of our old friend, Tyrone"The Colonel"Johnston. We first met in the 90`s when he joined The Downchild Blues Band family handling our merch sales. Immediately CD and T-Shirt sales doubled. He put in a lot of miles on the road with the band until his doctor advised him that traveling around north America with a blues band might not be good for his health. I was glad to hear that he was able to spend his final years close to family and his grandkids. He brought a cheerful presence to the space he took in the world. Travel on Colonel. Gary Kendall, Downchild.
